Friends who are Family

In many ways this fall's government shutdown was a bad idea, but one surprise bonus was that Gillian and Dylan found themselves with free time on their hands, and decided to make a spontaneous trip to Michigan! Annalee and Dan were kind enough to host all of us for brunch, despite the fact that they were also hosting Miles' fourth birthday party that afternoon!  It was a magical few hours together.  All of our kids had a blast playing together, we got to meet sweet baby Nora, and the six of us "grown ups" all get along easily and genuinely love each other.  Gillian and Annalee are like sisters, and the day was like a big family reunion.  I dream of a day when we all live close enough to spend time together on a regular basis, but for now I will treasure these rare times when we are all together.
