Apparently I was a bit of an overachiever this year in my quest not to spend all my time at family gatherings pointing my camera and capturing everything. In November I went on my third trip to visit far-flung family without bringing my good camera or taking many photos! My cousin Rynelle got married the second weekend in November. Attending meant that I would get to spend a great weekend with my dad (Rynelle is his older brother's daughter), see all of my cousins who are now living across the country, and to spend some long overdue time with my grandfather.
My cousin is the third of nine children, and her now husband is the tenth of thirteen, so it was quite the gathering of folks! I really loved seeing everyone, and bunking with three of my cousins in the triple bunk bed, just like when I was a kid! I helped my cousin to coordinate the reception set-up and the wedding day festivities, which was fun but tiring at six months pregnant. On Saturday before the wedding I got to spend some time with my Grandpa at the nursing home. He recognized me, for which I was grateful, but it was very difficult to carry on a conversation since he is very hard of hearing and gets easily confused. It was great to spend time with him, and he also had a really great time at the wedding. It was a whirlwind of a long weekend full of lots of love, laughter, conversation and work. I loved it, and so wish that I lived closer to my extended family!
