As much as I truly love being able to celebrate Christmas with both sides of our extended family, I love that we have some traditions set aside just for our little family of four-soon-to-be-five. After dinner on Christmas Eve we drove around looking at the Christmas lights. Then we came home, changed into pjs and watched "How The Grinch Stole Christmas." After that it was time to put out milk and cookies for Santa and carrots on the deck for Rudolph and the other reindeer! The kids were excited, but tired enough that they fell asleep pretty quickly.
Nathan and Natalie are sharing a room now (more on that in a different post) and during the transition we moved the baby monitor into that room. An added bonus of this is that we got to hear the two of them whispering to each other on Christmas morning, wondering whether or not Santa had been here. They very quietly (who knew it was possible for them to be so quiet!) snuck out of their room and soon the living room was full of excited whispers that Santa DID come!!! We waited a little bit, and then went out to find them curled up together under a blanket on the couch keeping an eye on the pile of presents under the tree. SO cute!
