Last Saturday, Dan and Nancy came over to take care of the kids so that Todd and I could go out on a date! It was our first outing as a couple since Natalie was born, and with a 1:1 parent to child ratio in the house now, it was a welcome novelty to spend some time when we were both relieved of parenting duty simultaneously.
It was a beautiful, sunny and warm fall day, so first we stopped at Bell's for a beer enjoyed on the patio of the beer garden--probably one of the last days of the season that it will be warm out there. Then we hopped in the car and Todd took me to a restaurant that neither of us had visited before, but that Joey has been recommending for years, The Fisher Lake Inn. Fisher Lake is a beautiful inland lake, and we enjoyed a table looking out on the sunset over the water and dined on some delicious steak and lobster. It was wonderful! The whole evening was a perfect reminder of how nice it is to spend time together just the two of us, and how rare it is these days that we are able to have an uninterrupted conversation. Luckily, both Nathan and Natalie were very well behaved for their grandparents, so hopefully it won't be too long before we can call upon their babysitting services for another date night! :)

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...
Nancy and Nathan bedecked Ozzie in some of Nay's baby doll's accessories. In a quest to further prove that he is probably the best (and most under-appreciated) cat in the world, Ozzie seemed to actually like his accouterments and strutted around the house wearing them for a ridiculously long period of time!
Nay-nay loves his Grandma Nancy.
Papa was in charge of Natalie for the evening. He didn't seem to mind. :)
