Planes, Trains and Automobiles (plus a boat!)

We just returned from an absolutely fantastic trip to San Francisco to visit my brother Steve and my sister-in-law-to-be Joanna. We'd never been out to SF (or to California for that matter) and when I found some amazing prices on plane tickets, we decided that even though money is extremely tight, we really wanted and needed to get our booties out to the West Coast!

Nathan's favorite part about the trip was all of the public transportation that we took. On the airplane we had an aisle seat, and he thought that all of the people boarding the plane were participating in a parade just for him! He smiled and flirted with everybody as they made their way to the seats. Three out of the four flights we took went really well--Nathan slept for most of them. On our flight from San Francisco to Houston, Nathan was overtired and overstimulated, and he just lost it. Yes, I was that mom, trying desperately to soothe that crying baby! Luckily he eventually calmed down and took a nap, and then flirted with everyone around him, which I think got him back into most of the other passengers' good graces.

On the buses and trains, Nathan would pick out a specific person sitting near us and just fix his big blue eyes on them until they looked back at him. Then he would squeal with delight and give them a huge grin! He and everyone on the bus/train/trolley absolutely loved this game; he made friends with the enitre city of San Francisco! When we arrived at our sightseeing destinations, Nathan was so worn out from socializing that he usually slept the entire time. :)

Riding the bus is FUN!
