Winter Sunshine

This weekend Todd headed up North for a much-needed vacation with the boys. They had a great time playing poker, tromping around in the snow, sledding, and perhaps drinking a beer or two. ;)

Back at the homestead, poor little Nathan was battling a horrible cold and what turned out to be a double ear infection. Considering how bad his cough was and how much his ears were bugging him, he held it together pretty well.

I had to work on Saturday morning, so Grandpa John and Grandma Gail came down to spend the morning with Nathan and have a late lunch with me. That afternoon, both N and I were pretty cranky and Deuce was restless, so I decided that it would be good for everyone to brave the cold to get some fresh air and sunshine. This didn't go quite as well as I expected; Nathan absolutely cannot STAND to have his mittens on! So mittens off, we embarked on our hike. I think it was a little too cold, and N felt a little too crummy for it to be totally enjoyable. So a quick break to take some photos (our little ham loves the camera, and seeing the pictures of himself on the little screen) and then we headed back to the house.

Sunday morning N and I went to breakfast with Grandpa Dan. We had a delightful time at Food Dance, and it was fun to hang out just the three of us, which doesn't happen very often. Sunday afternoon Todd returned from his Northport adventure, and we settled in for what we hoped would be a lowkey evening watching the Superbowl. Unfortunately, Nathan's ears had a different plan. The poor little guy was in so much pain that he was pretty much inconsolable for the majority of the night. :( Monday morning I was able to get a dr appointment, where he was diagnosed with a double ear infection and RSV, which is a viral respiratory infection. The doc couldn't do anything about the RSV, but antibiotics work wonders getting rid of the ear infection! So Nathan was able to get some sleep, and this morning he finally seems to be totally back to himself. He still has the cough, but it doesn't seem to be slowing him down anymore. Whew!

Some brief Saturday smiles from the little guy.
