Last weekend, which turned out to be our final weekend as a family of three, felt almost perfectly balanced--a rare feat indeed! On Saturday, Todd was in full productivity mode, with a big trip to Meijer and finishing a house project that he really wanted to complete before the baby arrived. Nathan and I had absolutely nothing on our agenda, which was an extremely rare and beautiful thing. We just played, played, played, ALL day, going along with whatever game or activity popped into his head--all car-related of course. It was so nice not to have to be anywhere or do anything at a certain time, and this cut down dramatically on toddler and mommy pouting. :) We both took a nice long nap in the afternoon, and then played some more. Saturday evening, we met up with Nancy, Florence, Basil and cousin John for a tasty dinner at Bilbo's. John is a freshman at K College this year, so we decided that he needed to be introduced to one of our favorite local restaurants.
On Sunday we again putzed around the house, but this time I was a bit more focused on productivity, and got a bunch of housecleaning accomplished, interspersed with more playing with Nathan. Nay and I again enjoyed nice afternoon naps (such luxury!). Sunday evening our friends Patti and Robert had us over to their home for dinner. It was really nice to catch up with them, and Nathan was in heaven playing with all of Teah and Carter's cool toys.
All in all, I ended the weekend feeling more relaxed, happy and accomplished than I have in a long time. Now that I know it was the last weekend Nathan had as an only child, the fact that we spent so much great time together is even sweeter to me. Cheers to balance!
