Pepper was very kind to us, and decided to keep gestating so that Todd, Nathan and I could head up to Northport for Labor Day weekend. We brought the hospital bag and infant carseat, just in case! Luckily we didn't need it. As has become tradition, Annalee, Dan and Miles also joined in on the fun of a holiday weekend in Northport.
Saturday was chilly and rainy, so we all packed into the car and headed down to Traverse City to check out the Great Lakes Children's Museum. You will not be surprised to know that we were not the only family with little kids who had the same idea--that place was busy! Nathan and Miles had fun running around like maniacs and checking everything out, and the grown-ups had fun trying to keep track of them.
A big source of fun was a huge water table with flowing water that you could send boats and balls down, and rearrange little plastic cards to change the flow of the water or build dams. I think that the grown-up boys were just as (if not more) intrigued than the little boys! At one point I looked over at the table and there were 5 dads playing with the water table, and only one little kid there!
Nathan, Grandma Nancy, Miles and Annalee spent quite a bit of time at the art table. Miles especially absolutely loves to color and spent most of the time at the museum creating works of art. He was thrilled to have learned the trick to removing marker caps. For some reason his mama wasn't quite as excited about this developmental milestone!

My little maniac quickly decided that while the art table was fun, it required way too much sitting, and he ran off to check out the tunnel that led to a twisty blue slide. This was a little bit more his pace!
The boys were playing together so nicely that we parents actually got to sit and chat! Gasp!

Nathan and Grandma Nancy started off Sunday morning with some yoga stretches.
Luckily Sunday was sunny, and we were able to get in some time at the beach! The kids were the only ones that felt the need to get in the water, as the weather was a touch too chilly for the grown-ups, but we all enjoyed some time on the shore to finish out the summer.
My 37 week belly at the beach--Pepper's last in-belly trip up North!
I wanted a cute picture with my favorite little guy. You can see that I was alone in this desire.
Annalee, Lulu, Pepper, and me!
