38 Week Appointment

Today I had my 38 week appointment, which was a little more eventful than the last few I've had.  The last two days Pepper has not been nearly as active as she usually is, and this fact, combined with a heartrate that was 117 bpm--in the normal range but at the low end of it--and that I was measuring at 35 weeks instead of 38 caused the midwife to decide to send me for an ultrasound just to make sure that all was well with the baby.  She suspected that all of these factors were due to Pepper being really low in my pelvis rather than there being a problem, but she wanted to make sure.  So I spent some time in the waiting room trying not to freak out while I was waiting for the ultrasound tech to squeeze me in at the last minute.  Luckily, everything is totally fine! Whew!!  The baby is measuring 38 weeks, 2 days, and I got to see her little ribcage moving--she's practicing her breathing skills!  Her weight is estimated around 7 lbs 5 oz.  It was crazy to see just how crowded she is in there right now!  We'll see how long it takes for her to decide that there is no longer enough room in here for the two of us. :)
