On Saturday I took advantage of the beautiful sunny day and took my snowshoes on their maiden voyage. I got them on clearance at the end of the season last year, so they've been waiting a long time to actually get out and play in the snow! I love the fact that I can just go out the back door and into the woods. Deuce came with me for the first loop, but it was so cold that the snow was balling up between the pads of his paws, so he decided not to continue on the trek when we looped back by the house.
I always feel so centered and peaceful when I take a solitary hike in the woods--it was a much-needed quiet moment in the midst of what has been an extremely hectic two weeks.
