Sunday was the 19 week mark in my pregnancy. The theme for the last week was: "Just because I'm feeling better and more energetic in my 2nd trimester does not mean I can keep up my pre-pregnancy pace."
This lesson was learned during a super hectic travel and work week. On Tuesday morning I flew to Atlanta, had lunch with my friend Sarah (which was absolutely the highlight of my trip), did a program for work that ended at 9:30, found dinner, fell gratefully asleep at 11:30. Wednesday I was out the door of my hotel at 6:30 for a morning program, headed to the airport where I spent a lot of time with flight delays, trying to get on different flights, and wandering up and down the terminal hoping I would make it to Memphis in time for my program, got on a flight, sat on the runway for an hour, made it to Memphis just in time to pick up my rental car and head to the program, did the program which ended at 9:30 Central time (10:30 my time, in case you were wondering), headed out in search of dinner, found and ate dinner at 11:30 my time, fell exhausted into bed at 12:30 my time. Thursday I was out the door of my hotel at 6:30 am to catch a flight back to Kalamazoo via Detroit. Luckily both flights were on time, as I met a prospective student at the Kalamazoo airport and drove him back to campus for the start of a large group visit program, then I ran one of the hectic registration tables until 6:30, and got home in time to see my sweet boys, tuck Nathan into bed and fall into my own. On Friday I was at work bright and early for the full-day portion of the visit program and spent the workday schmoozing, smiling, answering questions and giving directions. Left campus as soon as the program was over, picked Nathan up from daycare, met Todd at home and we all drove to Holland to look at a Jeep that Todd was thinking about purchasing. The thing was totally rusty, so we grabbed a quick dinner at McDonalds, and headed home, where Nathan and I went to bed at the same time. Thankfully my angelic hubby let me sleep in a little bit on Saturday morning, so I had twelve hours of sleep under my belt and felt recharged for our trip to Chicago.
Whew! If you read that run-on paragraph, you are a loyal reader indeed! :) The executive summary is that travel season is not made for pregnant people! But now I'm done with that hectic schedule and can get back to the normal eight to five routine and settle in to enjoy the spring weather, my family and my growing belly.
