Henry's Quilt

Of course as soon as I heard that I was going to become an aunt, my baby quilt making gears started turning.  I knew that if at all possible I wanted to be able to give Steve and Joanna Henry's quilt in person, so I had to kick my sewing machine into high gear!  I knew that the quilt would have an animal theme, as Joanna absolutely adores animals.  Nathan and I went to the fabric store together (he loved it! I'm so proud!) and almost immediately I found an animal print I loved, and then the rainbow of chevron stripes, and the color palette just came together.  It felt really good to get back behind the sewing machine.  That creative outlet has been sorely lacking since I became a mother of two.  So Henry's arrival was a great motivator.  I am happy to report that after a week of furious sewing, I was able to complete the quilt and bring it with me to Wichita when I went to meet Henry.  I even managed to snap a few pictures of it before I left:

Of course I had to do a mini photoshoot with the sweet recipient too! :)
