Weekend in Youngstown

The halfway point between Kalamazoo, MI and Vienna, VA happens to be Youngstown, OH--who knew! Last year when Leslie and I discovered that we could spend some time together with each of us only having a five hour drive, we decided to start an annual tradition of spending a weekend together in Youngstown.  Last year we met during the summer, just the two of us.  This year, there are two new human beings in the world, and we decided to invite them to join us for our girls' weekend!

It was so great to meet Ellie. She is truly a delight--smiley, laid back, outgoing, sweet and happy.  Natalie was absolutely fascinated by her, and Ellie was constantly trying to figure out a way to give Natalie a huge slobbery kiss.  Leslie and I had an awesome time catching up on each others' lives.  For whatever reason, we are absolutely terrible about keeping in touch over the phone, so when we see each other it's just a constant stream of talking from dawn til dusk!  Needless to say, we didn't need to have any major activities planned (which is good because there isn't a whole lot of touristy stuff in Youngstown).  We did emerge from the hotel for a change of scenery at the mall, but mostly we hung out in the living room of our suite playing with the babies and talking.  Ahhh, what a fabulous weekend!

Have you ever seen a more relaxed way to eat dinner??

Natalie in place for our attempt at a photo shoot of the girls.

Ellie couldn't believe her luck that she was going to have a sanctioned opportunity to bear hug the baby!

This was the closest we got to both babies smiling at the camera--pretty good considering the age groups we were working with!

This was a more accurate portrayal of how the photo shoot went.

Oh Youngstown, you are a strange, wonderful place I never would have known, were you not halfway to my dear Jessica! Miss you, Fowle girls!
