Northport with the Emhofs

This weekend Todd, Nathan and I headed up to the cottage to spend the weekend with my parents!  It was a special treat to have mom and dad up in the Leelanau Peninsula, and the weather cooperated beautifully--it was warm and sunny on both days, and we took full advantage of summer "Up North."

We kicked off the weekend by heading over to Woolsey Airport for the annual Fly-In Pancake Breakfast.  This event is put on by the Lions Club to raise money for college scholarships, and features pancakes, planes and a car show--irresistible!
Reading in the car on the way to breakfast

Paul made Nathan a Mickey Mouse pancake, which N thought was pretty darn awesome!

A band took over the control tower!

Daddy and Nathan watching a plane land.

This is where I get my shutterbug tendencies from!
Mom, Pepper and I heading over to check out some planes.

The noisy engine in such close proximity meant that N stuck close to Daddy.

Nathan and Todd checking out the '47 Dodge vegetable truck that used to belong to Basil.

One of the benefits of having your great grandpa's car in the car show is that you get to sit in it!

Grandma Gail came along for the ride.

"A BIG gween fire truck!"

Saturday afternoon Mom and Dad headed out on the bay in their kayaks, and the rest of us headed to the beach.  In a move that surprised and pleased all of us, Basil decided to come too!  He's not much of a beach person, and this was the first time all summer that he had been down there.  Of course I had to get photographic evidence of such a rare occurrence!

N has been really interested in what the name of the road is that we are driving on at any given moment, and was really interested in having Daddy show him our route up the Leelanau Peninsula to the cottage.

We spent almost all of our non-sleeping time at the cottage hanging out on the deck.  Since Basil and Dan rebuilt it last year, it has become such a nice place to spend time!

I adore this picture; Grandma and Nathan having a chat!

Sunday morning we had a delicious breakfast over at Florence and Basil's house and then walked down to spend the rest of the morning on the beach before heading home.

What a great weekend!!! I love all the photos, but I think the one with you and your mom reading to Nathan is my favorite.
