Trip to the Museum

The day after I got back from my trip to NYC, I took an extra vacation day so I could spend a whole day with Nathan. It was SO nice (and rare) to have a "freebie" weekday with no plans and no obligations. We had a lovely, relaxing morning at home followed by an afternoon nap for both of us. After naptime, we were both feeling perky so we headed to the Kalamazoo Valley Museum. One of the best things about this museum is that it is free! It's also located right downtown. They have a great area that is set aside just for toddlers that Nathan absolutely loves (we visited there when Uncle Steve and Aunt Joanna were in town). Unbeknownst to me, on the weekdays this area closes at 3:00, and of course we arrived at 3:01!! Argh. Nathan was bummed that he didn't get to play in the big bus that they have in there. However, the rest of the museum is still lots of fun and very kid-friendly.

Posing in front of the "yellow taxi cab." For those of you who may not know, Kalamazoo is home to the iconic Checker Cab Company.

Cheesing it up while playing with some washers.

"What's in here?"

A nice woman volunteered to take a picture of Nathan and me.

Disappointing fact: these were not real apples.

Doesn't everyone saute their ice cream?
